We had so much fun with our measurement stations. We measured length at one station, measured objects around the room in another station, weighed objects on a scale, and measured capacity in various containers in the last station. Busy but fun!

Celebrating Carnival in Brazil!
In our Travel the World unit, we are "traveling" to other countries. For this activity, we "traveled" to Brazil and learned about the country, what language they speak and how parts of their country and similar to and different from where we live. We learned about their celebration of Carnival, similar to Mardi Gras, and made some fun colorful and feathery masks!
Frogs on a Log Subtraction
We practiced subtraction with our frogs on a log. We started with 10 or less frogs on a log then the students decided how many were going to jump off. They then translated that into a subtraction problem. "There were 7 frogs on a log. 4 jumped off and now there are 3 frogs on the log."
Word Families
We are working hard with learning on our Word Families. We have learned about the At Family, the An Family, It Family, Ig Family, Ug Family and Ot Family. They are having fun in this activity making the Ot family words with magnetic letters on the board. They then wrote the words they created.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
We did a lot today for Saint Patrick's Day! First, we set a trap for a leprechaun while we were at the bag pipe assembly. We all came up with the best way to try and trap a leprechaun and unfortunately, it didn't work. But, he did leave the room a mess!! He did make up for it by leaving us gold coins and some Lucky Charms (a favorite cereal of leprechauns, or so I hear!).
We also learned about Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland and that he used shamrocks to teach people about the holy trinity.
Then, we made some beautiful rainbows and some fun little shamrocks to take home. Here are some pictures for you!

Mardi Gras King Cake!
In French, Madame made a King cake for Mardi Gras, which is a fun tradition for the holiday. A person will bake a cake with a plastic baby hidden inside. Whoever gets the piece of cake with the baby in it is in charge of making the cake for the following year. Maryann found the baby in the cake in French and her family was sweet enough (pun intended!) to bake a cake for this year to keep the fun going :) Maryann got to cut the cake and we distributed the pieces and our friend James found the baby! Thanks to Maryann's family for the really yummy cake!!
Interviews with a Friend
For one of our writing assignments, we were asked to interview a friend. We were to ask our friends something they like and something they do not like. Then we drew their answers and wrote them to the best of our ability. Here are some of the pictures of the students interviewing each other.
Here are some of our completed interviews! I love how cute they are :)
